Available for KEL-TEC, TAVOR and DP-12!
I purchased a KSG to keep in my farm truck. The fact that it was short, didn’t require a stamp and you could put different shells in each tube was exactly what I needed. The problem was the sight line on the gun being so high over the barrel…when I took it out of the box, I couldn’t shoot the side of the barn if I tried! I tried some off the shelf sights, but they just didn’t work right.
Problems with existing sights:
- Glass optics (red dot, reflex) get dirty, are fragile and good ones are expensive for a truck-gun.
- Lasers rely on batteries and can be difficult to see in bright sunlight.
- M BUS style flip up sights are hard to use on a shotgun – it’s difficult to see the “bead” while tracking a moving target.
Since I couldn’t find the sight the KSG needed, I decided to design my own! I call it the Ridgetop TTA sight, and it had to do the following:
- Work every time I picked up the gun, no matter where it was sitting, or for how long.
- No on-off switch.
- Not have to fool with sighting it in.
- Bad weather would not affect the accuracy of the optic.
- “Mount it and forget it” – it’s a tool, not a toy.
As you can see from the photos, this optic does all that…and more! No adjustments and no batteries. If it packs with mud, hose it off. If it gets dull, wipe some gun oil on it. You can carry it like a normal shotgun, not a shotgun with a glass optic!
On the weekends, I’m a youth shotgun sports coach which means I spend a lot of time fitting shotguns to new shooters. I used this knowledge to take measurements on the KSG with different people shouldering it. This way I could establish an ideal sight line. I put all this into the computer and after several revisions, you can see the final product.
The angles on the sight not only compliment the angular shape of the KSG, they improve strength. The triangle is the strongest shape in nature, and one of the simplest – this was the inspiration for this project. Putting the sight at the top of the triangle makes it easier to track moving objects, you can see through the triangle and not lose sight of the target. This combined with the fiber optic allows you to focus on the target, and not the sight.
I can even shoot clay pigeons thrown from the trap machine now, no way I ever imagined the KSG could do that!
Sight can be mounted in either direction on the rail based on your preference. Includes sight, and 3 mounting screws with locknuts. No modification to KSG required. Will fit on any flat-top rifle with a Picatinny rail, however, the sightline is designed around the KSGs and the new KS7 Gen2.
Designed and manufactured in the mountains of Tennessee. I am an engineer by trade with a couple of 3D Printers in my workshop. These are 3D printed using a high impact liquid resin.
This TTA sight turned my KSG into something that I can count on when I need it.
